Just when I thought I'm getting no more improvements...

I'm in Holland again and was on a bus this morning going to work. And I heard something that even 3 weeks ago was inaudible to me - the click of the indicator on the bus. This is *very* faint to the point that a hearing colleague of mine could barely hear it, it was so faint. I also picked up the sound of the bell which is also quite a faint 'squawk' sound.

It's amazing that even after 10 months I'm seeing change.

Ivan,

This is great. You will still continue to hear new things but not as often. Especially when you are in new environments. Back in January, I heard the arcing of the electricity on the trolley lines!

Hi Ivan,
Just saw your blog for the first time. I'm Maltese but right now am living in Luxembourg. My daughter who is only 1.5 years old has hearing problems and she may need to do the cochlear implant operation. Would love to get in touch with you in some way coz when I read parts of your blog, I really could see that someone with a cochlear implant can lead a fairly normal life! I've read a lot about this subject but when you get to hear the personal experiences, it's so different. Hope we can stay in touch. My e-mail address is gscicluna@waldonet.net.mt

Hello Laurie.. something else interesting I heard today - I defrosted our freezer and I could hear the ice melting and cracking. Quite a nice sound actually!!

Georgina, I sent you an email last week, hope that you received it!

Isn't it amazing all of the sounds we continue to hear and those that even normal hearing people can't. I just wrote on my blog that I was able to hear the "noise" coming from my son's iPod ear-buds. So far, my favorite sound is my cat meowing.
